Independent Engineering Consultant

 

Tackling challenges head-on with lubrication and reliability solutions in a collaborative effort for marine and industrial applications. Providing engineering insight and training for preventative maintenance and reliability best practices as part of the Lubrication Engineers team.

2014 - Present
Port Engineer, Coastal AK Premier Seafoods

 

Port Engineer responsible for maintaining a fleet of vessels engaged in various Alaska fisheries. Also, project manager involved in the design and conversion of an east coast trawler into an innovative and efficient freezer longliner.

2016 - 2018
Port Engineer - Alaska Longline Company

 

Sailed as Chief Engineer on all fleet vessels. Managed and maintained fleet engineering operations. Engineering manager for several major vessel conversions, as well as first large scale fishing vessel built in Alaska, the freezer longliner Arctic Prowler.

1997 - 2016
Chief Engineer - Arctic Alaska/Tyson

 

Served on various factory trawlers and catcher vessels as Chief Engineer and Mate.

1989 - 1997
Chief Engineer - Trans-Pacific Seafoods

 

Served on factory trawler Arctic Trawler and brief stints on factory trawler Aleutian Trawler, and crab catcher-processors Penguin and Shishaldin. The Arctic Trawler had a complex 3,000 shp diesel-electric propulsion plant with a full cod processing-freeze line and fish meal plant. I was the licensed chief engineer aboard her at the age of 23.

1980 - 1989
Machinery Tech - United States Coast Guard

 

Served on the USCGC Polar Sea icebreaker. At the time, the most powerful conventionally powered icebreaker in the world. She had a combination diesel-electric and gas turbine main propulsion plant. I worked and trained in every facet of the engineering sector. This was my hands-on engineering school for four years and was the foundation of my engineering knowledge and discipline. I achieved an exceptional level of Machinery Technician- First Class during my time onboard.
